DHAKA UNIVERSITY: Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said harsh actions will be taken if anyone tries to create disarray in name of movement during the upcoming election.
He made the remarks while addressing a photo exhibition program organized by Bangladesh Chhatra League on Dhaka University campus on Tuesday noon (August 28).
The minister said, “Today I have seen in the news that coalition is being formed against us ahead of election. Everyone has the right to form a democratic movement but if anyone tries to create anarchy through strike or blockade then law enforcers will take strict measures.”
On the issue of BNP’s participation in the election, Tofail said, “Election Commission will conduct the election and we hope that all party will take part. However, if BNP do not participate, their ultimate fate will be like the Bangladesh National Party of 1970. No one knows about this party as it failed to participate in polls.”
