DHAKA: Awami League Advisory Council member Tofail Ahmed said it is only the jurisdiction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to form and determine the size of election-time or interim government. 

“The government, which will rule during the election, will be the election-time government. This government will act as the interim government,” he said.

“(We) won’t refer any major policy because (we) won’t change any of the major policies. We will assist the Election Commission (EC) to keep the law & order situation normal,” he added.

Tofail Ahmed, also the commerce minister, was briefing the media in Dhaka Thursday (August 30). 

The law enforcers will take tougher action if anyone tries to detonate petrol bomb, carries out destructive activities and violates the limits after taking to the streets.

“The Prime Minister knows it and I haven’t any discussion with anyone regarding this,” Tofail replied while asked about the size of the polls-time government.
