SYLHET: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that BNP doesn’t want Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), because they won’t be able to raise allegations of irregularities and taking possession of polling centers after failing in elections.
“There is no scope to voice allegations,” he added.
Obaidul Quader, also general secretary of ruling Awami League, was addressing a party conference held in Sylhet Circuit House on Friday (August 31).
“We support EVM to make polls free & fair. EVM is needed to get rid of ‘bad notions’ about polls. EVM is a modern voting system. BNP earned victory in two centers of Sylhet City Corporation election where EVM were used.
“They do agree, if they win the election, but they make allegations if get defeated. BNP is raising various allegations, because they won’t succeed in the coming elections.”
Awami League Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, among others, were present there.
