DHAKA:  The newly-elected mayors of Rajshahi and Sylhet City Corporations have taken their oath of office on Wednesday (September 5).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina administered the oath at a ceremony held at Shapla Hall of her office at 10:55 am.

The newly elected councilors were also sworn in at the same venue.

Two mayors- Awami League’s AHM Khairuzzaman Liton from Rajshahi and BNP’s Ariful Haque Chowdhury from Sylhet won the elections on July 30.

Local Government Division Senior Secretary Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan conducted the oath-taking ceremony.

Awami League’s General Secretary Obaidul Quader was present among others.
