DHAKA: Refusing to appear before court over and again, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday (September 5) told the makeshift trial court, set up on old central jail premises, to go give her as much punishment as it wishes.
Khaleda also said, “I am physically very sick. Doctors advised me not to hang legs long. So I can’t afford to come again and again in this condition. Punish me as much as you want, because there is no justice in this trial. This court is doing nothing but injustice.”
The Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of the Special Court-5 fixed September 12, 13 for next hearing of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Charitable Trust corruption case as Khaleda’s lawyers were absent at hearing.
The special court was shifted to the old central jail in Nazimuddin Road in Old Dhaka where the BNP chief has been serving her five years’ sentence in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case since February 8.
Khaleda asked the court, “The decision to shift the court was taken a week ago, then why the gazette notification was issued last night (September 4)?”
“My lawyers were not allowed to come to the court. Besides, my lawyers don’t know anything about this. That’s why, they could not attend the court,” BNP chief added.
