DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said only Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina knows when the polls-time interim government to be formed.
Besides, the Election Commission will decide the Voting Day. So, none should speak on these issues, the senior ruling party leader added.
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, made the remarks to reporters before attending a view–exchange meeting with Rajshahi district AL leaders in Dhaka party office on Thursday (Sep 6).
Earlier on Wednesday (Sep 5), Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith at a program said the polls-time government will be formed within 20 days and the national election likely to be held on December 27.
When asked about it, Quader said none other than Sheikh Hasina knows about the interim government and also announcing the Election Day is Election Commission’s duty. Even if December 27 is the Voting Day, government or any minister should not say it. We must not say things that embarrass the EC.
On the issue of forming national unity by the opposition parties, Quader said, “National unity is not possible excluding Awami League. If you consider the supporters and voters of AL, their national unity is a laughing matter. It is not national unity but communal unity.”
