DHAKA: Awami League on Saturday (September 8) formally kicked off election campaign to mobilise voters and supporters for 2018 national election.
A team of the ruling party led by its General Secretary also Minister for Road Transport & Bridges Obaidul Quader launched a tour to the northern districts, marking the beginning.
The team left Dhaka by a Nilsagar Express train bound to Nilphamari. A boggy was reserved for the leaders.
“Awami League has started campaign through a train journey vowing to strengthen the party and make grassroots acknowledged of the government’s development works,” Quader told media prior to leaving Kamalapur Railway Station.
The organizational tour would play a significant role to make grassroot people aware of BNP’Jamaat’s ‘politics of rumor’, according to Quader.
However, the team has a plan to hold over 11 brief road rallies during the tour.
Awami League Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Publicity & Publication Dr Hasan Mahmud, BM Mozammel Haque, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapon, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Cultural Affairs Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil and Deputy Office Secretary Biplab Barua, among others, are in the tour.
