DHAKA: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the government is desperately locking for an escape route after sensing its inevitable collapse.
“We believe a national unity will be formed very soon to oust this dictatorial government,” he added.
The senior BNP leader made the remarks at a view-exchange meeting arranged by Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Muktijoddha Dol in party’s Naya Paltan central office on Saturday (September 8).
Fakhrul said Bangladesh is now passing a crucial moment. Whether people will have their freedom and rights depend on the next election. We have achieved independence through struggle and it continues till this day. AL is being defeated and looking for exit.
He also said, “Before landing in prison, Khaleda Zia told party men in an executive committee meeting in city’s Le Meridian hotel to form a national unity against the government.”
Fakhrul also criticized the government move that set up a makeshift court in old central jail for conducting Khaleda Zia’s trial there.
