Khaleda’s treatment, trial not govt matters: Tofail Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed

DHAKA: It is the matter of prison authority to determine the hospital where BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will be given treatment and it is the court which is carrying out her trial as those are not the matters of government.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed on Sunday (September 9) made the remarks mentioning that the BNP chief earlier denied taking treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital.

Tofail was talking to the reporters after addressing a discussion at Krishibid Institution in Farmgate.

“She has been kept here considering her illness. Colonel Taher and many great leaders were tried in this jail,” he said regarding the recent controversy on installing court at the old central jail, for Khaleda Zia’s trial.

“I too underwent treatment at BSMMU when I was in Comilla jail. There is no hospital better than it. It has all the famous doctors. Influential leaders are being treated here,” the senior Awami League leader mentioned his personal account to criticize Khaleda’s rejection to go BSMMU.

He further added that Khaleda Zia’s trial is concern of the court, not the government.
