COX’S BAZAR: The Teknaf Upazila Awami League served a show cause notice to Abdur Rahman Bodi, lawmaker of Cox’s Bazar-4 constituency and Teknaf Upazila Chairman Zafar Ahmed for not protesting the remark of an upazila AL leader.
Moreover, Teknaf Upazila Awami League Vice President M Zahir Hossain has been expelled from party post for allegedly saying Abdur Rahman Bodi is more popular than Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during a Eid reunion meeting on last September 8.
He said that MP Bodi is such a person who can’t be compared with any leader of the world. Even, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would be defeated by him in case of popularity. Bodi and Zafar allegedly remained silenced over the remarks.
Following the incident, AL leaders of the district enraged and prompted to take action.
On Saturday, Upzaila AL leaders have unanimously decided to expel M Zahir from the party and to serve show-cause notice against Chairman Zafar Ahmed and MP Bodi.
The show-cause notice was served to them on Sunday (Sep 16). However, claiming to not receive any letter, both of them told Banglanews that they rejected the remarks of M Zahir Hossain at the program.
