CHITTAGONG: Police detained five leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and pro-Jamaat student body Islami Chhatra Shibir from Pahartali area of Chittagong city.
The arrestees were Jamaat's Pahartali ward unit Ameer Md Abul Hashem, 46, Baitul Mal secretary Md Fazlur Rahman Prakash Azad, 37, Shibir activist Nizamuddin, 26, Shibir leader Yasir Arafat Mithu, 27 and activist Md Amzad Hossain, 24.
Pahartali police station officer-in-charge (OC) Swadip Kumar Das said they were arrested from the ground floor of a building ‘Sabila Manjil’ on Sagorika Shaheednagar road under Pahartali police station area on Sunday morning.
Swadip Kumar Das said they were planning a sabotage mission inside Prattay coaching center. On information, police conducted the drive and arrested them with three crude bombs, religious provocative books and subscription receipts.
