DHAKA: Gano Forum President and Jatiya Oikyo Prokriya convener Dr. Kamal said his party has no objection to participate in the upcoming general election under current Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina.

“We agree, in principle, to join the national polls under ruling government and current constitutional structure,” he said.  

Dr. Kamal made the remarks during an interview with BBC Bangla.

At the interview, he also said that this is the stance of his party Gano Forum and he has not discuss the matter with other partners of the newly form alliance. 

“It is a simple provision. I believe everyone will agree to it. However, we have not came up with a joint decision yet,” Kamal said. 

Earlier on Sep 15, Gano Forum president and Jatiya Oikya Prokriya Convener Dr Kamal Hossain and Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh president and Jukto Front chairman Dr. AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury announced formation of ‘greater national unity’.  

Later on Sep 22, they held a rally in Dhaka and placed a several-point demand to the government ahead of the parliamentary election. Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh president and Jukto Front chairman Dr. AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury and BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir among other BNP leaders joined the rally as united against the government.
