DHAKA: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said future plans and programmes will be announced from the party rally to be held in Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday (Sep 29).

“We will deliver policymaking speeches, future work plan and program directly from the rally,” he said. 

Fakhrul made the remarks at a press briefing in city’s Naya Paltan party office on Wednesday (Sep 26).

On the issue of police approval for the rally, he said, “We wanted to hold the rally on September 27 but Police told us to hold it on Sep 29 which is a holiday. But now they are saying Sep 29 is not good as the ruling Awami League also planned a view-exchange meeting at Mahanagar Natya Mancha on that day. We don’t understand what their meeting has to do with our rally? What is the problem?”

When asked whether BNP will seek approval for the rally, Fakhrul replied, “No…its ie their responsibility. They should decide what to do here.”

Senior BNP leaders were also present at the press conference.
