FROM SUHRAWARDY UDYAN: Criticizing the recently passed Digital Security Act, BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed said the law will be scrapped within 7 days if the party comes to power in the next election.
The senior BNP leader made the remarks while addressing the party rally held in Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Sunday afternoon (Sep 30).
Demanding the release of its jailed chairperson Khaleda Zia and forming ‘polls-time neutral government’, BNP held the rally today to announce fresh programs ahead of the parliamentary polls.
Moudud said, “If our peaceful programs face any obstruction, we will protest accordingly this time. If ruling party leaders try to occupy political field then we will do the same. There will no more goals in blank field.”
He also said BNP will not seek permission for rally next time but will hold it after verbally informing the authority.
Criticizing the newly passed Digital Security Act, Moudud said, “This law will bring dire consequences as it gave police so much power that the Rakkhi Bahini of BaKSAL in 1975 was not given such power.”
Several hundred leaders and activists of the party took part in the rally. Standing committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain addressed the rally as the chief guest while BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will preside over it.
