DHAKA: The appellate division of the Supreme Court rejected a plea of the state challenging High Court bail granted to BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury in 2 cases filed on charge of provoking atrocity.
A three-member appellate bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam moved for the state and senior lawyer Zainul Abedin moved for Khasru, at the courtroom.
On August 27, an HC bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Vishmadev Chakrabarty granted Khasru six-month and seven-week bail in the two cases respectively.
The cases were filed in Chittagong and Dhaka on Aug 4 and Aug 5 respectively.
The state later challenged the HC bail granted to Khasru.
