Khaleda seeks HC bail in Cumilla arson case

DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia filed a petition with the High Court seeking bail in her Cumilla arson case filed under the Special Powers Act. 

Khaleda Zia’s lawyer Kaisar Kamal filed the petition on Tuesday (October 2).

Earlier, Judge KM Shamsul Alam of District and Sessions Judge’s Court of Cumilla rejected her bail petition on September 13.

The case was filed in connection with vandalizing a covered van in Chauddagram area in Cumilla on January 25, in 2015.

Khaleda Zia has been serving her five years’ sentence in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case since February 8.
