Avoid unhealthy politics for nomination: Quader Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader addressing a party program in Dhaka's Chakbazar

DHAKA: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader warned his party leaders and activists to not indulge in any unhealthy competition in name of nomination.

Anyone can seek nomination but any dirty politics centering the matter will not be accepted, he said.

Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges minister, made the remarks at a leaflet distribution program organized by Chakbazar thana AL in old Dhaka on Saturday (October 6).

Quader told party men, “Any grabber, extortionist will not get ticket of ‘boat’ in the upcoming polls. Currently those who are seeking nomination must maintain close contact with common people. Do not indulge in dirty politics and throw mud at each other. We will nominate those who have the most popularity.”

“BNP has destroyed the humane values of politics. We used to have those values previously. Sheikh Hasina went to help Khaleda Zia when she faced peril. When Khaleda was admitted to Comilla hospital, Hasina along with other Al leaders went to see her. When Khaleda’s son died, PM Sheikh Hasina also went to her house but you all know what kind of behavior PM received in return. BNP destroyed the humane values of politics,” he said.

Quader also said that the upcoming parliamentary election is the one to save the country. Sheikh Hasina must be voted to power again if country’s development and independence to be saved.

Other senior Awami League leaders were present at the program.
