DHAKA: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader opined that the countrymen will not accept the ‘National Unity’ formed by the killers of 21 August grenade attack.
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, made the remarks while inaugurating the 28th annual conference of Road and Highways Engineers’ Association at IEB auditorium in city’s Ramna area on Thursday (Oct 11).
Earlier on Wednesday (October 10), A Dhaka court sentenced 19 persons including former State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar to death and BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman among 19 others to life-term imprisonment for a gruesome grenade attack on 21 August on an Awami League rally that left 24 people killed in 2004.
Following the verdict, Quader said the mastermind of the attack Tarique Rahman should have gotten death penalty.
