Dhaka: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said that it is necessary to reduce the gap between the political parties and the Election Commission (EC) for the sake of a fair election.
He was inaugurating a training program for trainers on electronic voting machine (EC) on Sunday (October 21).
The CEC said the day of keeping ballot secured for whole night has gone. It is needed to go using EVM in phases. For this reason, the commission is thinking of giving training to polling agents for the first time.
KM Nurul Huda said the distance between the political parties and the EC must be reduced to a fair election. The commission will perform its duty so that voters can cast their vote without any hassle.
He also said the EC will not work as per directives of politicians and political parties.
The training program was organized in the Election Training Institute (ETI).
Presided over by ETI Director General Mostafa Faruque, the program was attended, among others, by EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed, Director Farhad Hossain, deputy director Fazlur Rahman.
