CHANDPUR: Police detained seven members of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team from Faridganj upazila of the district on Saturday (October 20).
Superintendent of Chandpur Police Jihadul Kabir held a press conference in this regard on Sunday (October 21).
The detainees were- Md Kawsar Hamid, 19, of Faridganj upazila, Mahmudur Rahman, 24, of Cumilla, Md Rashedul Islam, 25, of Narayanganj district sadar, Kamrul Hasan, 27, of Mymensingh, Niyamat Ullah, 26, of Kishoreganj, Md Habibur Rahman 30, of Tangail, and Fazlul Karim, 30, of Brahmanbaria.
Acting on a tip-off, police detained them in a drive launched at the house of Saudi expatriate Mohammad Abu Rayhan at Uttar Keroa village where they were reported to be holding a secret meeting, said Harun Rashid, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Faridganj Police Station.
Two laptops, two pen drives, and six mobile phones were seized from them, OC said.
Following press conference, the detainees were sent to Chandpur court, OC added.
