DHAKA: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader Monday termed the demand for dialogue before the announcement of polls schedule ‘not logical’.
He said; “The demand for holding dialogue before announcement of polls schedule is unrealistic, illogical and unnecessary. No situation has now been emerged in the country to hold dialogue. So, the election will be held as per constitution.”
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister was addressing a discussion held marking the National Road Safety Day 2018 at KEB auditorium in Dhaka this noon.
Obaidul Quader said the election schedule will be announced in the first week of November. Election Commission is prepared for it. The seven-point demand of the Jatiya Oikyafront is unreasonable, unrealistic and unnecessary. So there is no logical base to meet their demands.
The meeting was presided over by the Secretary to the Road Transport and Bridge Ministry Nazrul Islam.
Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM Shahjahan Kamal and State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Mashiur Rahman Ranga spoke on the occasion as special guests.
