DHAKA: A 16-member delegation from Jatiya Oikyafront led by Gono Forum president Dr Kamal Hossain will sit for talks with the ruling party at Ganabhaban on November 1.

However, the names of the delegation member were not disclosed due to strategic reasons. 

Oikyafront leaders held a meeting in this regard at Dr Kamal’s office in city’s Motijheel area on Tuesday evening (October 30). 

After the meeting, JSD president ASM Abdur Rab said, “We have accepted the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for holding dialogue. We will talk about everything. Constitution is for the people. Thus our demand is to ensure people’s voting rights.”

Gono Forum president Dr. Kamal Hossain, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Gonoshasthya Kendra founder Jafarullah Chowdhury and JSD President ASM Abdur Rab among others were present at the meeting.

Earlier on October 28, Gono Forum President-led newly formed political alliance Jatiya Oikyo Front sent a letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with a dialogue invitation ahead of the 11th parliamentary election. 

On October 29, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader held a press briefing in party’s Dhanmondi office where he said AL has agreed to the dialogue invitation. 

On Oct 30, A team of Awami League went to Oikyo Front frontman also Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain’s residence at Bailey Road in Dhaka to hand him over a letter from the party. 

Prime Minister also Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has invited the leaders of Jatiya Oikyo Front for holding a dialogue at Ganabhaban on Thursday (Nov 1).
