DHAKA: Bikalpa Dhara President Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given her consent to a good number of demands placed by Jukta Front.
Badruddoza Chowdhury was briefing journalists after leading a 21-member Jukta Front team in a dialogue with Awami League led 14-party alliance at Ganabhaban Friday evening (Nov 2).
The Jukta Front leader said prime minister agreed on several points like--creating level playing field for election, limiting government from using power, all the electoral personnel should work under the commission and the ministers and MPs can’t put any influence in their constituencies once the polls schedule is announced.
The prime minister, however, didn’t accept the demand of holding the polls under a neutral government and giving the army magistracy power, he added.
Sheikh Hasina said she will discuss the demand of halting EVM use with the president, he added.
However, the talks between the Jukta Front coalition team and the 14-party alliance lasted three hours, beginning at 7:30pm.
The Jukta Front team included Bikalpa Dhara Secretary General Maj (retd) Abdul Mannan, Presidium members Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, Golam Sarwar Milon, BLDP President Nazim Uddin Al Azad, NAP President Jebel Rahman Gani, NDP Chairman Khandaker Golam Mortuza and Jatiya Janata Party President Sheikh Asaduzzman, among others.
