DHAKA: The High Court has directed the Election Commission (EC) to register Barrister Nazmul Huda-led ‘Trinomul BNP’ as a political party.

An HC bench of Justices Tariq-ul Hakim and Justice Md Shuhrawardi passed the order on Sunday (November 4) declaring the rule issued in this regard as appropriate. 

Earlier on Aug 14, the HC issued a rule asking the Election Commission to explain why it should not be directed to register Trinomul BNP’ as a political party following a writ filed by Nazmul Huda.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), EC secretary, assistant secretaries and other people concerned were made respondent to the rule.  

Barrister Nazmul Huda moved for the petition while deputy attorney general Amatul Karim moved for the state in court. 

Barrister Nazmul Huda filed the writ after the EC decided not to register his party on June 14.
