DHAKA: Demanding for army deployment during national polls, Jatiya Oikyafront leader and JSD president ASM Abdur Rab said army should be given magistracy power so that they can arrest anybody to contain any irregularities during election.

Abdur Rab made the remarks to reporters after holding a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda at EC building in Dhaka on Monday evening (Nov 5).

He said, “EC has taken our proposal into consideration. We told the commissioners that EC is a neutral organization. You (commissioners) will have to stay in the country after the election ends and you should carry out your duties accordingly.”

Earlier, a delegation of newly formed political alliance Jatiya Oikyafront held a meeting with Election commissioners over the polls schedule announcement.
