SUHRAWARDY: Convener of Nagorik Oikya Mahmudur Rahman Manna said that they don’t want election to be held under Sheikh Hasina and current Election Commission (EC).
Manna, one of the leaders of Jatiya Oikyafront, was addressing the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Tuesday (Nov 6)
He said, “We went to Sylhet, Chattogram after forming the alliance. Police of all areas are saying like these people of this area-‘we want a fair election, we want to cast our votes.’”
“We held dialogue. They didn’t (Awami League) agree to our demands, but said-‘they want fair polling.’ We, again, want to go to them with our demands. This time not verbal, written demands,” Manna added.
The rally began around 2pm.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir presided over the rally and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President ASM Abdur Rab addressed as the chief speaker.
Oikyafront was formed on October 13.

Kader Siddique joined the alliance on Monday (November 5).
The alliance was formed with the demands of a national election under a neutral government after dissolution of parliament and release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.
