 No fresh cases, detention ahead of polls, assures PM

DHAKA:  Prime Minister also Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has assured that no new cases will be filed and no detention spree will be made ahead of the upcoming national polls.

She categorically indicated the opposition party men to be free of harassing attempts.

The ruling party’s Law Affairs Secretary SM Rezaul Karim, who attended the dialogue between the ruling alliance and Oikyafront, quoted Sheikh Hasina while talking to reporters Wednesday (Nov 7).
  
“No discussion was held about the release of Khaleda Zia, in the dialogue. But, the premier has assured Oikyafront no detention spree will be carried out and no new cases will be lodged marking the election,” he added.    

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, however, told reporters that they (Oikyafront team) sought bail for Khaleda, not release.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina led a 12-member team of the 14-party alliance in the second phase dialogue with a 11-member team of Oikyafront Wednesday.
