Oikyafront to join polls, demands deferment of schedule Jatiya Oikyafront leaders at the press conference

DHAKA: Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikyafront has finally agreed to contest the upcoming 11th Jatiya Sangsad elections under ruling Awami League administration.

The opposition political alliance also demanded a new announcement of election schedule after deferring the current schedule for one month.

Gano Forum president also the leader of Jatiya Oikyafront Dr Kamal Hossain made the announcement at a press conference in city’s National Press Club on Sunday (November 11).

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Krishak Sramik Janata League President Bangabir Kader Siddiqui and Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna were present among others at the conference.

Jatiya Oikyafront was formed on October 13.          

Jatiya Oikyafront includes Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, ASM Abdur Rab's Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, Mahmudur Rahman Manna's Nagorik Oikya, Bangabir Kader Siddique-led Krishak Sramik Janata League, and BNP

Kader Siddique joined the alliance on Monday (November 5).

The alliance was formed with the demands of a national election under a neutral government after dissolution of parliament and release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.

The alliance has held rallies in Sylhet, Dhaka, Chattogram, and Rajshahi.
