DHAKA: A clash erupted between policemen and the leaders and activists of BNP in front of the party’s central office in Nayapaltan Wednesday (Nov 14).
Wednesday marks third day of BNP’s nomination form sale for 11th parliamentary election.
Thousands of its leaders and activist have been gathering before the office since morning, to collect forms and endorse support.
As the turnout was getting bigger, vehicular movement on the adjacent road had come to a standstill.
Chases and counter chases were reported between policemen and the BNP men while the law enforcers attempted to remove them from the area.
Police reportedly opened tear shells and rubber bullets and charged batons on them to disperse. The enraged supporters set two police vehicles on fire.
Three entrances to the office have been locked from inside. Several supporters have sustained injuries.
The area before the BNP office has turned vacant as police took the control, till filing this report.
