DHAKA: BNP on Friday (Nov 16) submitted to the Election (EC) a list of its 472 leaders and activists who they said were arrested by the law enforcers after announcing the polls schedule.
BNP also submitted to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Husda a letter attached to the list.
The letter was signed by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. In the letter, he sought the EC’s Interference to initiate necessary measures regarding this.
BNP central case information officer Md Salahuddin Khan carried the letter to the EC.
“472 BNP leaders and activists have been arrested after announcing schedule of the election. Commission earlier said none will be arrested but it has been done. I have submitted the list,” he said.
