BNP leader Gias Quader lands in jail

CHITTAGONG: A Chittagong court on Thursday (Nov 22) sent BNP Central Vice Chairman Giasuddin Quader Chowdhury to jail on charge of giving death-threat to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Chittagong District Police Court Inspector Bijon Kumar Barua confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Gias was absconding in the case filed with Fatikchhari Police Station.

He appeared on the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Joyonti Rani Roy on Thursday and pleaded bail.
The court sent him to jail after rejecting the plea.

Fatikchhari upazila Chhtra League President Jamal Uddin, as a plaintiff, filed the case against some 60-70 others, over threatening Sheikh Hasina with death.

However, Gias is a younger brother to executed war criminal Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury.
