DHAKA: Jatiya Oikyafront is set to finalize its candidates for all the 300 constituencies within three days based on a consensus of its alliance partners.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the disclosure while talking to reporters at the chamber of alliance chief Dr Kamal Hossain in the city’s Motijheel area on Sunday (November 25).
The BNP leader also said, “We will hopefully reach a consensus over the nominations before the last date of nomination paper submission (Nov 28).”
Fakhrul said the victory of their alliance is certain if the election is held in a fair manner. But the Election Commission still could not take any step to prove its impartiality.
He further said their party leaders and activists are being harassed in many ways as the EC could not create a level-playing field yet.
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has not been released while many prospective candidates of the party are still behind bars, he added.
Krishak Sramik Janata League president Kader Siddiqui, Gano Forum general secretary Mostafa Mohsain Montu, executive president Subrata Chowdhury and Jatiya Oikya Prokriya’s Sultan Mohammad Mansur, among others, attended the meeting with Dr Kamal Hossain in the chair.
