HC rejects Andaleeve’s plea for EVM Andaleeve Rahman Partho

DHAKA: The High Court has rejected a writ petition filed by Bangladesh Jatiya Party President Andaleeve Rahman Partho for necessary directions to use Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in the 11th parliamentary elections.

The HC bench of Justices Md Ashfaqul Islam and Mohammad Ali passed the order on Monday (Dec 3).

Advocate Ahsanul Karim moved for the plea at the courtroom.

On Nov 30, Partho filed an application with the Election Commission (EC) seeking EVM use in voting whereas even his political alliance Jatiya Oikyafront has been opposing it since earlier.

In the written statement, he pleaded for using EVMs for voting in his constituency Bhola-1. Later, he filed the plea with the HC as the EC has rejected it.
