DHAKA: Chamber court of the Appellate Division has stayed the six-month bail earlier granted by the High Court to former Awami League MP Amanur Rahman Khan Rana in a case filed over killing two Jubo League leaders.
On Thursday (Mar 14), Chamber Judge Md Nuruzzaman stayed the bail for four weeks, following an appeal from the state.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam moved for the state while Deputy Attorney General Dr Md Bashir Ullah moved for the state and lawyer Sayeed Ahmed Raja for Rana, at the courtroom.
On the same day, Rana was granted bail for six months by the HC in freedom fighter Faruq murder case.
On Mar 6, Rana was granted bail for six months in the case over killing two Jubo League leaders of Tangail sadar upazila’s Baghil union unit in 2012.
On Jan 18 in 2013, freedom fighter and Awami League's Tangail District Committee member Faruk Ahmed was shot dead. Later a case was filed in this connection accusing MP Rana and others.
Rana was sent tot jail by a Tangail court on Sept 18, 2016, in Faruq murder case.
