DHAKA: Leaders and activists of Jatiya Party have flocked to their central office in the capital's Kakrail to place last tributes to their party chief HM Ershad.
The body of Jatiya Party chairman, who died under hospitalization Sunday (July 14), was taken to the party office after 11am Monday (July 15).
Apart from Jatiya Party, leaders and activists of various other social, political and cultural fronts came there to show last respects to former Bangladesh president HM Ershad.
JP Acting Chairman GM Quader, Secretary General Mashiur Rahman Ranga and former secretary general Ruhul Amin Howlader, among others, were present.
Talking to Banglanews, JP Presidium member Syed Abu Hossain Babla expressed firm determination that the party will remain united and there is no scope to grouping.
However, the body will be taken to Baitul Mukarram National Mosque where the deceased's third namaj-e-janaja will be held after Asr prayer.
Earlier, in the morning, second namaj-e-janaja of leader of opposition in the parliament HM Ershad was held at the South Plaza of National Parliament Complex.
On Tuesday (July 16), the body will be flown to HM Ershad's hometown Rangpur. It will be flown back to Dhaka following a namaj-e-janaja on Rangpur Zila School Ground.
The party chief is supposed to be buried at Combined Military Graveyard in Dhaka Tuesday. But, the decision may change, said Ranga.
Fondly called as 'Palli Bondhu', 90-year-old former president and chief of Army staff HM Ershad breathed his last at early hours of Sunday at Combined Military Hospital (CMH, Dhaka) after suffering from various old age complications including low hemoglobin count, liver complications, and lung and kidney infections for long.
