Bangladesh women face Turkmenistan in final AFC Qualifier today  Bangladesh women's football team players

Fresh from their historic qualification to the final round of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026, the Bangladesh women's football team will look to end their group stage campaign on a high as they face Turkmenistan in their final Group C fixture at the Thuwunna Stadium this evening (July 5).

The match kicks off at 6:30 pm Bangladesh time.

Bangladesh, already crowned group champions with a game in hand, secured a maiden qualification to the tournament’s final stage after a stunning 2-1 victory over hosts Myanmar last Wednesday.

That landmark win was followed by a 2-2 draw between Bahrain and Turkmenistan, which sealed Bangladesh's top spot in the group.

Forward Ritu Porna Chakma, who netted both goals in the win over Myanmar, is expected to lead the attack once again against Turkmenistan, the lowest-ranked side in the group (FIFA Rank 141).

Head coach Peter Butler is likely to count on her clinical form to maintain the team's momentum.

Bangladesh currently sit atop the table with six points from two matches, followed by Myanmar with three, and Bahrain and Turkmenistan with one point each.

Even if Bangladesh lose tonight and Myanmar beat Bahrain to finish level on points, Bangladesh will retain top position due to their head-to-head win over Myanmar.

Team officials said the squad remains in good shape heading into the final group clash, though a few players are managing minor injuries. The coaching staff has focused on recovery and rotation, with qualification already secured.
