Bangladesh national women’s football team wrapped up their AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers campaign in style, thrashing Turkmenistan 7-0 in their final Group C match at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on Saturday.
Having already secured their place in the final stage with wins over Bahrain and hosts Myanmar, the girls in red and green dominated the lowest-ranked Turkmenistan side from the start. Bangladesh went into half-time with all seven goals already scored.
Sapna Rani opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, while Shamsunnahar netted twice in quick succession to make it 3-0 by the 13th minute. Monika and Ritu Porna added two more goals within minutes, before Tohura Khatun struck the sixth. Ritu Porna, the standout of the group, sealed the rout with her second and the team’s seventh goal in the 40th minute.
The second half saw Turkmenistan tighten their defence to avoid further damage. Bangladesh had earlier crushed Bahrain 7-0 and defeated Myanmar 2-1 thanks to a brace from Ritu Porna Chakma.
Turkmenistan, meanwhile, ended their campaign without a win.
The Bangladesh women’s team is scheduled to return home early Monday (July 7).
