East Bengal off to Bangladesh

KOLKATA: India’s premier football club Kingfisher East Bengal has left Kolkata for Bangladesh on Sunday to play in Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup.

The tournament scheduled to begin on October 20 in Chittagong port city.

East Bengal will face Chittagong Abahani Club at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on October 20.

The Group B of the tournament consists of East Bengal (India), K-Electric (Pakistan), Abahani Club (Dhaka) and Abahani Club (Chittagong).

The event is also featuring Dhaka Mohammedan FC, Sri Lanka’s Solid FC, India’s Kolkata Mohammedan FC and Afghanistan’s De Spin Ghar Bazan FC.

The tournament offers a prize-money of $25,000 to the winners and $10,000 to the runners-up.

It will be hosted by the port city from 18 October to 28 and is organized by Chittagong Ahabani Club in memory of Sheikh Kamal.
