T-Sports to telecast rest of Bangladesh-West Indies series

T Sports, the country’s lone sports TV channel, will telecast the remaining matches of Bangladesh’s ongoing tour of West Indies, an official confirmed on Tuesday.

“Being the lone sports channel of the country, we have an obligation towards our viewers and taking that into consideration we have decided to telecast the remaining part of West Indies tour,” T Sports Chief Executive Officer Ishtiaque Sadeque said.

For the first time since 2001, a Test match involving Tigers wasn’t broadcast on TV in Bangladesh during the opening Test between Bangladesh and West Indies this week.

The blackout was due to the fact negotiations between the rights-holders and Bangladesh’s TV networks failed to materialize. The ICC.tv platform showed the opening Test live but viewers in Bangladesh had to subscribe to the ICC.tv and pay two dollars to unlock access to live streams, on-demand replays and highlights.

Later, the BCB also telecast the match from day three on their official Facebook page.
