T20I series against UAE: Tigers eye clean sweep

Tigers are eyeing to complete a clean sweep as they are set to take on hosts UAE in the last and final game of the two-match T20I series in Dubai today.

The match is slated to start at 08pm (BST).

The Tigers earlier defeated the hosts by seven runs in the last over of the game to go 1-0 up in the series on Sunday.

Bangladesh, who were reduced to 77-5 in the 11th over of their innings after being sent into bat first, posted 158-5 after Afif Hossain (77 not out) and Nurul Hasan (35 not out) put up an unbeaten stand of 81 runs for the sixth wicket.

Bangladesh then demonstrated some lacklustre bowling and fielding efforts which nearly cost them the game but Mehidy Hasan Miraz (3-17) and Shoriful Islam (3-21) bowled superbly while the inexperience of the opponents also saved their faces at the end.

The Tigers, which will travel to New Zealand to play a tri-series after the match, will surely be looking to make improvements in the last game in order to finish the series on a high note.

Bangladesh were without senior cricketers in the game but Afif said that they did not feel any extra pressure to fill their shoes.

Soumya Sarkar, who last played a T20I back in November last year, is likely to open the innings in the match.

Bangladesh are expected to return home on September 28 while they will fly to New Zealand on September 30 to play the tri-series comprising the hosts and Pakistan.
