Devon Conway (64), Glenn Phillips (60) fifties and an all-round bowling performance helped New Zealand crush Bangladesh by 48 runs in NZ Tri Series Match 5 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

Bangladesh are now out of the race for a place in the final in this tri-series but have one last game to play on Thursday (Oct 13) against Pakistan.

Glenn Phillips was adjudged the Player of the Match for his scintillating 24-ball 60!

Bangladesh had done their homework on him but he found a way to score. They did manage to score freely in the Powerplay but the home team kept on picking wickets at regular intervals and never allowed the tourists to gain any kind of momentum.

All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was the lone warrior in the end and the tourists will be pleased to have their skipper back in form with the bat. He scored 70 off 44 balls.

It was an easy win for New Zealand and they have booked their place in the final. It's another disappointing outing for Bangladesh but they will take a lot of heart from their improved batting in this game.

Apart from Shakib, no Bangladeshi batter however could produce a worthy performance, which was the reason for the side's big defeat. Shakib fought lonely to reduce the margin of the defeat before Bangladesh finished with 160-7.

For Bangladeshi bowlers, Ebadot Hossain and Mohammad Saifuddin, the two bowlers who came back into the side to play their first match in the
tournament, snapped up two wickets apiece. Shoriful Islam took 1-41.

Shakib's side earlier lost the first game to Pakistan by 21 runs before New Zealand crushed them by eight wickets in the second game.
