Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association have proposed to increase the price of bottled soybean oil by Tk 15 per litre.
To hike the price of the edible oil, the association submitted the proposal to the senior secretary of the commerce ministry on Wednesday (Nov 2).
The traders' association has proposed this due to the abnormal devaluation of the Taka against the dollar and the increase in the price of crude oil in the international market.
According to the proposal signed by Nurul Hossain Mollah, an executive officer of the association, association members proposed to surge the price of bottled oil from Tk 178 to Tk 193 per litre,
Earlier, a month ago the price of the oil declined by Tk 14 per litre. The association again is trying to escalate the price by Tk 15.
