Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS) President Sayem Sobhan Anvir is working to bring back golden era of the jewellery industry which gives impetus to the country’s economy.
This was said by Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin, vice-president of BAJUS, on Tuesday.
He was addressing AGM of Bogura unit BAJUS and view exchange meeting with the district’s leaders and stakeholders at TMSS Mohila Market.
“BAJUS has hiked its members from 7,000 to 40,000 after Sayem Sobhan Anvir takes over as President. Gold industry is aristocratic. He (Anvir) is working to bring back golden era of the sector and trying to show jewellery business as role model.”
Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir has taken steps to export ornaments by imparting training to the goldsmiths, he added.
About prerequisite for legitimate business, he stressed becoming member of the BAJUS.
Motlebur Rahman Ratul, president of Bogura unit, presided over the programme.
Md Liton Hawlader, assistant secretary of BAJUS, Masudur Rahman, assistant secretary of the organisation and vice-chairman of Standing Committee on Law and Membership, Reponul Hasan, member of executive committee, Enamul Haque Sohel, member of District Monitoring Committee, Pranab Saha, member of the committee, Firoz Ahmed Babu, general secretary of Bogura district unit, among others, were present.
