The Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) has increased prices of 24 essential drugs used in primary healthcare.
Spokesperson and director of the Directorate of Drug Administration Ayub Hossain disclosed this to Banglanews on Tuesday (November 22).
He said the prices of 24 medicines have been refixed by increasing about 5 to 10 percent as it was reviewed by the committee based on the recommendations of the technical sub-committee.
They said, currently the minimum price of medicines has been refixed following our overall policy where prices of raw materials and other costs are considered.
The price of 500 ml cholera saline of Libra Company was Tk 61 earlier, currently the price has been increased to Tk 72. 1000 ml cholera saline of the same company is increased to Tk 98 from Tk 88. Cholera saline 2000 ml was Tk 113, in now Tk 122, Hauptmann's solution 500 ml has been increased from Tk 77 to Tk 82, Hartmann 1000 ml is now TK 105 from Tk 95, Hartmann Plus was Tk 55, now Tk 66, Hartmann 1000 ml was Tk 71 now Tk 80, .09% Sodium Chloride of different ml has been re-fixed to Tk 74, Tk 89, Tk 102, and Tk 115, 10% Dextrose of different ml has been increased to Tk 90 from Tk 80, Tk 98 to Tk 105, Tk 70 dextrose plus sodium chloride increased to Tk 80, Tk 93 to Tk 107, Tk 66 one is increased to Tk 75, Tk 78 is increased to Tk 82. 5% Dextrose of Tk 93 is now Tk 105, Dextrose Plus Sodium of Tk 66 is now Tk 72, Tk 78 is now Tk 85, Tk 86 is now Tk 90, Tk 78 is now Tk 82, Tk 93 is now Tk 100.
Experts said that the gradual increase in the price of medicines will have a huge impact on medical care. Amid rising inflation in the country, the increase in drug prices will put additional pressure on consumers, they added.
