The government will buy 2.75 crore litres of Soybean oil from local suppliers for Tk 184-186 per litre.

The decision came from a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase today, according to officials.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presided over the virtual meeting on Wednesday (Dec 14).

He said 5.5 million liters of soybean oil will be purchased from Sung Shing Edible Oil at Tk 184.50 per litre. The total cost will be Tk 101,47,50,000.

Besides, permission has been given to buy one crore liters of soybean oil from Super Well Refinery at Tk 185.95 per litre. The total cost will be Tk 204,54,50,000.

The meeting also approved the import of 30,000 tonnes of urea fertiliser from the UAE.
