Bangladesh Jeweler’s Association (BAJUS) former president said Bangladesh will export gold soon after fulfilling the demand on local market.
BAJUS District Monitoring Standing Committee Chairman Dilip Kumar Roy said: “Under the leadership of BAJUS president and Bashundhara Group managing director Sayem Sobhan Anvir, the organisation has gone through rapid transformation in last one year. He planned to empower goldsmiths across the country. The handmade jewellery of the goldsmiths will export for earning more foreign currency.”
He said this at a view exchange meeting in Manikganj on Monday (Jan 16).
Dr Dilip hoped that gold industry will be a partner of country’s development journey like garment industry in terms of earning foreign currency.
“It will keep the country's economic wheels moving and can be a partner in development. The gold bar will have ‘Made in Bangladesh’ seal. We will regain our lost heritage (of gold industry) soon,” he said.
The business leader emphasised on enrollment of more members under umbrella of BAJUS to improve the dignity of the gold traders across the country.
BAJUS assistant secretary Bidhan Malakar, executive member Reponul Hasan, Pabitra Chandra Ghosh, Manikganj Diabetes Association general secretary Sultanul Azam Khan Apel, district sports association’s general secretary Sudev Saha were also present on the occasion.
