Mutton and beef prices have gone up in kitchen markets across the capital, which has put a squeeze on consumer wallets.
Visiting several kitchen markets in the capital on Friday (Mar 10), beef prices have hit Tk 760 – Tk 800 per kg, a sharp rise from Tk 720 – Tk 750 per kg in the previous week.
Mutton prices have shot up too, hitting Tk 1050 – Tk 1100 per kg in the city’s markets on Friday, compared to Tk 1000 per kg last week.
Chicken prices shoot up too
On the other hand, the prices of broiler chicken have witnessed further hikes in the capital’s kitchen markets in just a week.
Broiler chicken was sold for Tk 250-260 per kg, up from Tk 240-250 from the last week.
Traders sold the Sonalika chicken variety for Tk 350-370 a kg, up from Tk 310 - Tk 320 a week ago.
Besides, layer chicken was sold at Tk320-Tk330, which was sold at Tk 310- Tk 320 in last week.
However, onion prices remain stable in different kitchen markets across Dhaka.
On Friday, a kg of onion was sold at Tk 35 - Tk 40 per kg.
Small sizes of garlic was sold at Tk 120-Tk 130 per kg while big sizes of garlic was sold at Tk 140 per kg.
Ginger was sold at Tk 140-Tk 160 per kg in different marker in the capital.
