Vegetable prices rise

The prices of vegetables increased abnormally in Dhaka's kitchen markets, triggering further woes for commoners.

During a visit to several kitchen markets in the capital on Friday (May 19), it was found that the price of vegetables went up as compared to last week. 

Most of the vegetables were being sold for at Tk 60 to Tk 100. 

This week pointed gourd was sold at 70 taka per kg, radish at Tk 60 per kg while round eggplant was being sold at Tk 70 per kg in different kitchen market in the capital.  

On the other hand, per piece of bottle gourd was sold for Tk 60 -Tk 80 and green chilies was sold for Tk 200 per kg.  

Besides, coriander leaves per kg was sold for Tk 400 in the kitchen market. 

Local onion was sold for Tk 80 per kg and potato was sold for Tk 40 per kg which was Tk 30 in last week. 

Four pieces of lemon was sold for Tk 20 in the various kitchen market in Dhaka. 

However, the prices of cucumber decreased in the kitchen market. 

Currently, it was sold at Tk 40 per kg which was sold at Tk 60 in last week.

Traders claimed that prices of all essentials are higher than before that’s why vegetables prices also rising in the market.
