DHAKA: The government on Thursday published the gazette notification of new structure of minimum wage for readymade garment workers by fixing Tk 5,300 minimum wage.

Labour and Employment Ministry published the gazette notification on Thursday.

According to the new wage, a trainee worker will get Tk 4,320 with a basic of Tk 2, 200.

The Wage Board finalized the new wage structure for readymade garment workers at Tk 5,300 at entry-level from the current pay scale of Tk 3,000.

The Wage Board fixed the salary structure in its 9th meeting on November 4.

The first minimum wage board, constituted in 1994, had fixed Tk 940 as minimum wage for the garment workers.
