DHAKA: Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Monday directed all banks of the country to beef security of their vaults and take additional measures against burglary.

The central bank issued a circular in this regard on Monday.

In the circular to all chief executives of all the scheduled banks in the country, BB asked to take up a three-tier security policy to strength the infrastructure, provide insurance facilities for items stored in the vault and install advanced security system.

The order came as miscreants broke in and looted around Tk 16.4 crore from a branch of Sonali Bank of Kishoreganj on Sunday.
